invitation

Yesterday I shared a wedding invitation
that I loved working on.
Today, I am sharing the reception invitation that the bride's
parents sent out.

I love the combination of  type and hand lettering.
And I love all the pockets
for response cards!!

My husband and I are so excited to be part
of Lauren and Todd's special day!
They are dear to our hearts and
we wish them all of God's blessings
as they start their life together.

wedding invitation

I had the privilege to work on a wedding invitation suite
for some friends of ours
who are getting married in Maui in a few weeks

I designed a monogram
that they used on the outside of the invitation

I love the colors they chose!

The wedding is approaching quickly
and we will be traveling to Maui
because my husband is performing the ceremony!!

I will post the reception invitation the bride's parents
sent out tomorrow.
See you then :)

inspiration from FL

A few weeks ago my husband and I went to
Orlando, FL for the YoungLife All Staff Celebration.
It's a gathering of all the YL staff and spouses held every four years.
We had a great time being encouraged and entertained.
We had the privilege of hearing from some wonderful speakers.
Here is what my notes looked like

It was a wonderful week
and I came back inspired
spiritually and artistically

sunday doodles

I recently decided to do my Sunday Doodles
in one journal, instead of on the program
we get each week.

I grabbed an empty sketchbook
from my shelf (Pentalic)
and doodled a
title page.

this is one of my first entries.
We started a series on
the book of James.

Calligraphy Northwest

I am so excited to attend Calligraphy Northwest
in June.  It's the annual International
calligraphy conference.
This year it will be at Reed College in Portland, OR.
That makes it close for me so I couldn't pass it up!

I will be sending in my class preferences this week,
so I have been pouring over the catalog
of class offerings.

The catalog itself is full of
great inspiration!
The class offerings are all so wonderful,
it's hard to narrow it down.
I will give an update when I know
exactly what I will be taking

paper boxes

Our calligraphy guild met on Valentine's Day
this year.  So, to celebrate the wonderful day
we made little paper boxes.

My first one is decorated with the word
love
(one letter on each side).
I used a white Gelly Roller pen for the lettering.
And here's what it looks like on the inside

It has a smaller box inside
and a small card that reads
"I love you"
inside of that.

This box was cut out of scrapbook paper
covered in circles
and I added little messages to
the circles.
The little messages are what you
might find on little Valentine
candy hearts :)

This was such a fun project!
Thanks to Marilyn Woycenko for sharing
it with us!!

envelopes

I have received some wonderful artwork
in the mail from some inspiring artists
as a part of the LOJ decorated envelope exchange!

This is a birthday card I received from
my friend Karyn.
She knows I love butterflies.
Isn't it beautiful?

It's so fun to get the mail when
this is waiting for you :)

decorated envelope exchange

Sorry for the long absence from blogland!
Last May I attended a calligraphy conference
in Seattle called Letters of Joy.
It was a great weekend full of wonderful inspiration!!
While I was there I signed up to be part of a
 decorated envelope exchange with
 fellow attenders of the conference.
I completed my envelopes and sent them off in the mail.

I chose a red and white color scheme in honor of Valentine's Day
(although they were a little late for the actual holiday).
And here is what I placed inside the envelopes.

I completed the lettering using
white acrylic ink and gouache.

Tomorrow I will share the envelopes
I have received so far!!
