sunday doodles

This Sunday after church
our two boys had baseball practice.
I decided to bring my church doodle journal
and add some color while I  watched
and waited.

new obsession

There are times when I become artistically obsessed
with specific things.
A few years ago I had a butterfly obsession.
Right now it's feathers.
They are everywhere too.
Apparently I'm not the only one :)

Here are a few feathers I painted
and framed last night.

They are pretty small.
The artwork is 2.5"s3.5"
(standard ATC size)
and the frames are a little over
4"x5".

They were super fun and quick
to paint.
I have some more feather projects
in the works, so stay tuned!

Artwork completed using
watercolors and Micron pens
on Bristol board.

teaching the little guys

In a few weeks I get the chance
to teach calligraphy/handwriting to some
Montessori students at Jefferson Elementary.
They are pretty young (1st-3rd graders)
so I decided to start them with skeleton
letterforms using a pencil.

These are the worksheets
I will use to teach.
I really love teaching children.
They are curious and ready to try
anything.
I think they will like playing with all my fun
pens at the end of our time the best!!

sunday doodles

It has been fun to move my Sunday Doodles
to one sketchbook.
I like looking back at what I have done
and learned
(even if they only make sense to me).

This is from our series on the book of James.

Some Sunday Doodles are more successful than others :)

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

co-op

I have the privilege of being part of a great artist's co-op
in Spokane, WA, where I live.
It's a collection of about 25 local artists and all sorts
of mediums.  Everything from jewelry to pottery to fiber arts
to calligraphy!

I have art prints, painted rocks, greeting cards, framed art, bookmarks...
pretty much anything you can put words on!

Here are a few more shots of my space at the shop.

The shop is called
The Pottery Place Plus
and it's located in downtown Spokane.
In the coming weeks I will
feature some of the other
talented artists in our co-op.
Stay tuned to see some inspiring pottery,
candles, fibers, jewelry, skateboard and more!
